Staff and Vestry

The Rev. Anthony Gaboton Jr.

The Rev. Anthony Gaboton Jr. came to Calvary Episcopal Church in November 2024, as Vicar in part-time capacity.

In 2023, Anthony completed a year of Anglican Studies at Virginia Theological Seminary. He is also an alumnus of Oral Roberts University and holds an M.Div. from Union Theological Seminary in New York and a Th.M. from Candler School of Theology at Emory University.

Anthony entered into the priesthood in January 2024. Although newly ordained, he has several years of ministerial experience, including a residency at Richmond Hill (a spiritual retreat center and monastery), hospital chaplaincy, and youth ministry.

In addition to serving part-time at Calvary Episcopal Church, Anthony is the half-time Associate Rector at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Richmond, and assisting the Diocese of Virginia with the St. Phoebe School for Deacons.

As the son of a military veteran, Anthony has lived in many places but spent most of his life in Virginia.

Vestry

According to The Episcopal Church, the basic responsibilities of the vestry are to help define and articulate the mission of the congregation; to support the church’s mission by word and deed; to select the rector; to ensure effective organization and planning; and to manage resources and finances.
